Although often considered a member of the ranged magic class, the venomancer lends itself well to several builds. Your choice of build will depend on your gameplay preferences as well as whether you want to take advantage of the magic damage skill tree or the melee damage skill tree. The four most common venomancer builds are the pure Mag build, Vit build, light armor build, and the heavy armor build. Also listed is the less common arcane/heavy mix armor build.

Contents

Pure Mag Build

Every two levels:

+ 1 Str
+ 9 Mag

Equipment Weapons
Arcane

Arcane

● Wand

● Magic Sword
● Pataka
● Glaive

This build is valued for its considerable damage output. The nine attribution points that you pool into Magic will give your character a sizable amount of mana as well as a high magic attack rating. This becomes particularly significant when tanking a boss with your pet as your ability to heal is rooted in your base magic attack (the higher the magic attack, the more substantial the heals and the better survivability your pet will have). This build however is not suitable for PvP as you will be lacking in both physical defense as well as vitality (hit points). You will also be taking considerable damage from any melee mobs should you pull aggression off of your pet (something that will not be uncommon due to your damage output). Adopting this build will also confine you to the magic attack skill tree since with melee attacks you will be doing much less damage.

Vit Build

Every two levels:

+ 1 Vit
+ 1 Str
+ 6 Mag
+ 2 in Vit or Mag

Equipment Weapons
Arcane

Arcane

● Wand

● Magic Sword
● Pataka
● Glaive

Perhaps the most commonly accepted and exercised build for PvE, the Vit build will give your venomancer a sufficient balance between hit points and magic attack. The points allocated to Vitality will allow you to withstand much more physical and magic damage than the previous build, while still giving you enough magic to be able to spam heal your pet and deal significant damage. It should be noted however that your character will still lack in physical defense and thus is not well suited for PvP.

Light Armor Build

Every one level:

+ 1 Dex
+ 1 Str
+ 3 Mag

Equipment Weapons
Light Armor

● Wand

● Magic Sword
● Pataka
● Glaive

This build is highly recommended for a PvP-seeking venomancer. It gives you the opportunity to choose between magic or melee attacks (depending on the situation) and gives your much more physical defense. With regards to tanking a boss with your pet, because of the lower magic rating and consequently your diminished ability to heal, your pet will not have the same survivability as that of an arcane venomancer. You will however be able to withstand melee damage better than an arcane venomancer. Also, there is no room to allocate points to Vit in this build, but it gives you enough stat points to wear arcane armor, if you choose.

Heavy Armor Build

Please note that this section is not very effective and practical.

Stat Option #1 Stat Option #2 Equipment Weapons
Every two levels:

+ 1 Vit
+ 5 Str
+ 2 Mag
+ 1 Dex
+ 1 in Vit, Mag, or Dex

Every two levels:

+ 4 Str
+ 4 Mag
+ 1 Dex

Every five levels:
+ 1 Str

Every ten levels:
+ 3 Mag

Heavy Armor

Heavy Armor

● Magic Sword (preferable)

● Pataka

Stat Option #1 gives you access to the best heavy armor for your level (25 Str/10 levels), at the cost of of having to equip a much lower level magic weapon (10-15 Mag/10 levels). Stat Option #2 gives a slightly lower level heavy armor option than your level (22 Str/10 levels), but a higher level magic weapon option (23 Mag/10 levels). (You would need around 30 Mag/10 levels to equip your current level magic weapons.)

Though a rare breed, the heavy armor build is particularly useful in Territory Wars and PvP. Heavy armor venomancers rely primarily on the fox form melee damage skill tree. It is important to note that because you're relying entirely on melee attacks, you will not be doing as much damage as even the light armor build. Additionally, while having superior physical defense you will also take much more damage from magic attacks than any of the other builds.

Heavy and Arcane Armor Mix Build

This build is not recommended for new players.
Every two levels:

+ 5 Str
+ 6 Mag
+ 1 Dex

This build is not intended for beginners. The stat point allocation sums up to about 12 points every two levels, but you only receive 10 points every two levels. The trick here is to find as much +Mag/Str/Dex gear addons as possible. This will make up for the fact that you need more points than you get. However, this is extremely expensive and again is not intended for a new player. The benefits of this build are huge, being able to wear both highest possible (for your level) arcane armor and heavy armor means you can change to suit your needs. Depending on the opponent, you can switch amours. For example, when fighting a barbarian, switch to a full heavy armor set, etc. For regular everyday grinding, wear half/half. This enables you to get an average of both worlds. This stat build does not sacrifice anything, meaning that you will be able to wear the highest level arcane armor, heavy armor, and a magic weapon of your choice.
