Baby Pet Guide

Baby pets (also known as All-Class Pets) are pets that any character from any class can have. Normally only the venomancers and mystics can have pets at their side, but with these special pets everyone can have a sidekick to join their adventures in Perfect World International. The only catch, of course, is that these pets are for display purposes only. Venomancers and mystics use their pets in battle. Their pets participate in attacking and protecting their owner. They level up with their owner and venomancer pets require feeding.

Baby pets have none of those characteristics. They are just for show so you don't need to feed them and they will only follow you around as you run or fly around. An important thing to note is that ground baby pets cannot follow you if you are flying (so they will stow) and air baby pets cannot be summoned in a dungeon (due to the height limit).

Baby pets are obtained in a few different ways:

  • Common Baby Pets - These can be made from normal mobs found around Perfect World.
  • Rare Baby Pets - These are made from rare pet mobs around Perfect World.
  • Marriage Quest Pets - These pets can only be obtained by completing Marriage Quests.
  • Special Pets - These pets are obtained through events and/or special packs usually obtained through the boutique.

How to Create a Baby Pet

Unfortunately the eggs for all the baby pets can only be obtained by venomancers. So you will either need to find a venomancer friend who will be able to tame you some of these eggs or you can search for these eggs in the auctions and in cat shops.

Once you have all the eggs that you require (check the listings below for this information) you will need to go to Mrs. Zoologist to combine your pet eggs.

Double-click on her to speak to her and then select the Pet Trade option. This will bring up the list of all the pets that you can manufacture. Each pet will require a different number of eggs and a manufacturing fee. She doesn't mention the manufacturing fee but rare baby pets cost 100,000 coins to make and common baby pets cost 200,000 coins to make.

Once you have combined your pet you need to see a Pet Manager, which can be found in each major city, to talk to her and select the Hatch Pet option. Place the pet egg in the slot and hatch it, make sure you have at least one empty slot in your pet bag to hatch your pet. Once hatched you can bring up your pet bag (click the "P" button on your keyboard) and summon your pet for it to appear (click the Call button in the pet bag). To stow your pet you can simply slick the Stow button in the pet bag. For faster access you can also drag the icon of your pet from your pet bag and add it to your quick shots. This will allow you to simply click the icon to summon and stow. You can also switch to a different pet without stowing the first. As ground mounts behave as pets, summoning a ground mount will stow any pet you currently have out.

The Pet Manager can be found at the following locations:

City Coordinates
City of the Lost (244, 645)
Etherblade (428, 894)
City of Plume (330, 425)
Archosaur (529, 672)
Dreamweaver Port (673, 377)
Thousand Streams (118, 861)
City of Raging Tides (665, 137)
Tellus City (376, 238)

Tip: You'll notice that above your pet's body will be its mob name (for example Baby Bear or Baby Cuddly Pup). You can change this by purchasing a pet collar from Mrs. Zoologist (click the Pet Trade option) which costs 10,000 coins. Once you have the collar talk to Mrs. Zoologist and click the Rename Pet option. This will bring up the Rename Pet option and your pet bag. Drag the icon of the pet you want to rename to the Rename Pet box and type in the new name you want to give it (up to eight characters in length). Once you're done click Change Name and viola your pet will now have the given name over top of it next time you spawn it. Note that you cannot rename a pet if it is summoned so make sure to stow your pet before you rename it.

Note: There are sample pets that hang out with Mrs. Zoologist. You can kill them but Mrs. Zoologist will not be happy and will attack you for a nice big chunk of your hit points (your HP charm might click depending on your level).
